"If you're looking for art for yourself or your clients, never miss the opportunity to visit an artist in their own studio. There is no better way to discover art than directly from its creator." - Anna Tungusova, art collector.
Art collector Anna Tungusova recently visited the studio of MILADO Art Gallery artist - Tamara Jovandic-Everson, where she was welcomed with coffee, homemade cake and fresh cherries before discovering the artworks and hearing the fascinating stories behind them.
According to Anna: "An artist's studio is much more than a workspace. It reflects their inner world." It is where the sketches, archive works, personal objects and new ideas come together. A studio visit allows you to witness the artist experimenting with materials, techniques and compositions - offering a unique insight into the creative process that cannot be experienced in a gallery setting.
Tamara shared stories about her homeland in the Balkans, her artistic journey - from her early works to the latest paintings. Each artwork revealed another chapter and a new layer of her creative practice.
Anna describes Tamara's paintings as diverse in subject and unmistakably recognisable through a unique visual language that combines mysticism, spirituality and contemporary techniques. "Everyone who encounters Tamara's work, either at her studio or through the exhibitions, will discover something different and bring their own meaning to it," - Anna Tungusova.
Anna's favourite reflection from the visit: "One thing remains constant: these paintings do not portray just face - they portray the soul."
At MILADO Art Gallery, we believe that meeting an artist in their studio creates a deeper understanding of their work and a long-lasting connection between artist and collector. Interested in visiting one of our artists' studios?
